Here is my latest work. For many years I have loved the imagery of Isaiah 42:3. It says a bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not extinguish. I have wanted to portray that idea for sometime, but didn’t know what imagery I’d use. Maybe just a pic of some reeds by the water. Recently I read the verses surrounding it and the pieces came together. A humble servant, a Christ representative, that God delights in, and pours out his spirit on. That is what I wanted to portray. Started with the man, he is done in oil pastels and inspired greatly by the beauty of Edgar Degas’s piece the tub. Then rest of the image is from layers of colored tissure paper glued down and a layer of wax on top. Enjoy.
