How many films did you watch last year? How many hours of TV? Or video clips after a friend posted on Facebook? We live in a world where 100 hours of video are uploaded to the internet EVERY MINUTE!
We want to successfully speak the language of film. We also want to train others in how to create short films. One of the things our team has been involved in is hosting short-film training events.
A curriculum has been developed by a few professors and others with life experience in the industry. They set up 2-week courses overseas where attendees can learn more about directing, editing, storytelling, and how to use films in ministry. There have been 14 of these schools held so far that have been in locations on six continents (sorry, Antarctica).
One of the projects Heather has been working on is formatting a more expansive curriculum as the training grows into a multi-session film school that will last a total of 18 months. She’s creating a template that can be used as the materials are translated into different languages. We want to make great films that engage viewers, but we also want to multiply ourselves so that others can join us in this mission!
Mission 865 is part of JESUS Film that is translating the film into the 865 neglected languages that have 50,000 or more speakers each. Of the 865, 101 translations have been completed, and 60 of those have no portion of Scripture in their own language yet!
2,947 new churches were started in 2013 using JESUS Film tools, teams, resources and outreach efforts!
Over 330,000 indicated decisions to follow Christ after a JESUS Film ministry activity last year.
Please pray: For us both as we adjust to working on a new team. For the finishing touches being made to a short film about shame Praises David’s team was able to get the footage they needed for a short film about regret! Heather took a tumble on her bike, got scraped up, and wound up fainting. She went to the hospital by ambulance. She was discharged the same day; tests came back normal and her scrapes are healing.
