In the past 15 years I’ve done a lot of landscapes. A few depict the area I call home. Most are from places far from home. My home has no mountains or red rock, no arches, or canyons. I think the highest point is like 200 feet above sea level! So I look forward to those times of adventure out west where the landscape seems more inspiring to me.
Isn’t that just our human nature, always thinking over there is better than what’s right in front of me?! Similarly we think, I’ll be happy when….
However I think we are meant to live overflowing with joy every day. In the normal and the special.
So I was walking out of work to my car last week and noticed how nice the trees looked, still more bare, waiting for leaves, the sky peaking through the over woven branches. Dappled light and shadows abounded. It was beautiful. Snapped a few photos to help me remember. There is joy and beauty to be found all around us. May we have eyes to see and hearts to feel it.
Here’s an article that shares how others have found joy.
