Duck Pond with Palms, Lake Eola #1

We all have dreams and desires. Things we want to accomplish, places we dream of going. A delay in fulfillment can lead two ways. A setting-in of disappointment, bitterness, can cloud one’s outlook, and dim hope. Or, an opening of eyes to what’s here and now can result in appreciation for what has been given.

I have a serious case of wanderlust. Idealized Pinterest places I want to go to. For the moment I’m here in “The City Beautiful.” I drove myself downtown earlier this week and took a slow walk around Lake Eola. It’s a beautiful spot. I took lots of pictures from which I hope to do a series of paintings.

An interesting fact I only learned just recently is that the lake is actually the site of a sinkhole. That’s a word feared here in Florida, and can spell disaster. How interesting that one of the most recognized and beautiful places in our city came to be from a sinkhole!

Here’s the photo I used.
