Last year had some challenges and some encouragements. We wanted to share with you some things we heard or read that were an encouragement to us:
(Heather) I continue to receive emails from people visiting everystudent.com (which is not just for students). I’ve seen evidence of people’s hunger for God and desire for answers, and was able to give counsel to a man whose wife wanted a divorce, and a woman who was afraid of getting married, yet knew she was “living in sin.”
Of the many books I read this year, one stood out. The Hiding Place is the true story of Corrie ten Boom, a Christian Dutch woman who ran an underground network for helping Jewish people during World War II and spent time in a concentration camp. Her incredible story of how God used her greatly because she had faith and a willingness to obey was humbling and encouraging. God can, and desires to, use anyone who makes themselves available. Two quotes from her:
“There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.”
“Never be afraid to trust your unknown future to a Known God”
One last thing we will share that was a great encouragement was a special show we saw at SeaWorld in Dec. called “The Greatest Story Never Told.” There, in a packed-to-capacity theater we heard the Christmas story of Jesus being born. When it finished we felt like we’d been to a worship service—not something we expected from a secular theme park! We love it when the gospel is so clearly told outside of church.
